This letter was written to Mr. Clark in 1865, while Jacob was at sea, five years before his marriage. The letter says: Philadelphia, Dec 23/65 Mr. Clark Sir What money you have for me from the Schr [Schooner?] please pay it over toward my Taxes. I am loading general cargo for Savannah. I got a fair Freight, but business is very dull & I shall be a long time loading. Coal to Boston is $3.00 & very scarce. There is a great deal of ice in the river.
