Poster for the Bar Harbor Horse Show. Poster is a Charles W. Holmes Lithograph depicting a woman with a light blue bonnet holding a parasol and holding a horse's face to her own. The Horse is poking its head out of a circle in the blank background of the print. Text of the poster reads: "Bar Harbor Horse Show Aug. 23, 24, 25 1910" In the lower left hand corner is the phrase "When Thoroughbreds Meet" and above that, next to the parasol tip, is Holmes' signature "Chas. Red leather case and silver cigarette case inscribed on outside "Ensign Alessandro Fabbri U.S. N. R.F". Inside are 5 hand-rolled cigarettes and an inscription that reads "We transmit to you this wireless message of our boundless love and confidence. Christmas 1917. 'the Boys' the Otter Cliffs Radio Station".

Now called The Redbook--originally called Directory and Hand Book--these social registers list residents and their contact information, cottage locations and owners, businesses, various transportation schedules, tide charts, advertisements, and important phone numbers. The first book published in 1912 by Stella L. Hill was green, all the rest are red. The Redbook celebrated its 100 anniversary in 2012 and is still produced to this day. [show more]
